I kissed my husband after having this drink. His response? "Hm, Jen is citrusy."
I think the homemade creme de menthe is losing its mint power. This drink was not really at all minty. But I rather liked it that way.
Recipe:
1.75 oz light rum (Bacardi Silver)
1 Tbsp lime juice
1.5 tsp Creme de Menthe, green (homemade, so mine was clear)
.5 tsp simple syrup
Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel.

how do you make creme de menthe?
I'm not sure--a friend of mine gave it to me as a gift, along with some coffee liqueur he made. I think he had intended it to be more mojito-like, but it was peppermint instead of spearmint, so I decided it was basically creme de menthe. It was good in hot coffee. When I get the recipe from him I'll post it.
It turns out it was a rum and mint leaf infusion with added sugar. He thinks that a true homemade creme de menthe would use grain alcohol or vodka instead, and more mint. And personally I'd add peppermint oil extract instead of the infusion, to get rid of the green cloudies.
